Employee Engagement Update

by Ribby Hall - 31st October 23

In April we asked you to take part in an Employee Engagement Survey. We wanted to hear from as many employees as possible and were pleased that  a number of you shared your thoughts with us.

Your feedback helped us make plans to focus on the following three things:

  1. Reward and Recognition
  2. Communication
  3. Personal Development

Since hearing your thoughts, work has been underway to embed our new Reward and Recognition offering; giving employees smaller yet more frequent rewards. We are pleased to have seen, on average, a 25% increase in reward since this was rolled out. A reward culture comes from everyone, therefore if you see someone going above and beyond – tell them!

Communication methods continue to be an area of focus for the business. In an organisation like Ribby, with such diverse roles and a fast pace, communication can be a challenge. The Ribby Roundup now arrives in your inbox monthly, keeping you up to date with what is going on, and we continue to encourage two-way communication. A recent example of this is the Values Survey which asked for employees input into our Company Values.  Appraisals, Mid Years Catch Up’s and informal 1-2-1s are all designed to support communication.

Personal development remains a key focus.  The Management Passport Workshops have continued to evolve in 2023, with the 5 new workshops introduced receiving an average rating of 95%.

The LMS was recently updated to the “Campus” format.  As part of this revamp the “Discover” section was added, curating content on a more individual level.  The new “Pathways” tool will soon go live.

The Service Excellence Academy launched in April for employees joining Food & Beverage departments.  This is supported by ongoing coaching and mentoring in department by our L&D Facilitator.  Finally, we continue to invest in Apprenticeships across the business, with 13 current Apprentices.

We had originally planned to conduct a further Employee Engagement survey in October, however we don’t want to overload you with surveys! We appreciate the feedback you have given us to date and feel that we can make some further improvements from this. We will be asking to hear your voice again in April 2024!
