“The perfect pre-holiday treatment”

In the second part of her visit to The Spa Hotel, freelance designer Laura Lonsdale was invited to experience the brand-new Thermotherapy Scrub – an exciting new addition to the Aqua Thermal Journey

Before trying out the new Thermotherapy Scrub, I enjoyed an hour working my way around the glorious Aqua Thermal Journey. This immersive experience usually lasts two hours and includes entrance to the aroma room, saunarium, Balinese salt inhalation room, herbal sauna, outdoor rustic sauna, hydrotherapy pool and more. The different heat experiences slowly raise your body temperature whilst you relax reaping the holistic and therapeutic benefits.

There’s so much to explore both inside and out, and with the addition of the outside bar, on a warm day it literally feels like being on holiday. My favourite area to enjoy was by far the outdoor hot tubs.

After a relaxing hour in the aqua thermal, I was ready for my Thermotherapy Scrub. I have to say I’ve never actually had a body scrub treatment before. This 25 minute body treatment can be added on to your Aqua Thermal Journey package

“The perfect pre-holiday treatment”

The scrub, which takes place on an infrared heated marble hammam table, is designed to remove any dead skin cells, unclog pores and improve the texture and appearance of the skin. The heated hammam table intensifies the exfoliation process as well as relaxing the muscles. It also feels lovely to lay on!

I went to meet my therapist in the heated thermotherapy hut located in the gorgeous Zen Garden. I chatted to the therapist about any problem areas; typically when I get dry skin it tends to be located around my knees and feet. On this occasion I actually had a bit of fake tan on and it was looking a little ‘cakey’ in those areas.

The therapist began by giving me a full body wash, which she then showered off with warm water whilst I lay on the table. Once I had been thoroughly washed she began the scrub using the Natural Spa Factory Fig And Vanilla Salted Body Crush, which smelt absolutely delicious! My whole body was gently scrubbed whilst focusing on areas I had said were quite dry.

I didn’t think a scrub could be in any way relaxing, but actually being led on a warm table and in a warm room, I did feel very relaxed.

After the scrub was washed off, my skin felt so soft and rejuvenated. A scrub can help any products absorb better into the skin, so when I got home I moisturised fully to enhance the results of the treatment.

It’s been a week since having the scrub and my skin still feels so lovely and soft. This would be the perfect pre-holiday treatment to prepare your skin, or equally after a holiday if it’s feeling a little dried out!

Enjoy a wide range of treatments, including the NEW Thermotherapy Scrub and Welnamis Sound & Vibration Therapy, now available at The Spa Hotel.
