Welnamis Treatment

Laura Lonsdale is a busy freelance designer of all things cards, prints and stationary, as well as a mum to three-year-old Penelope. We invited her to test out our newest spa treatment which promises a whole new level of relaxation – even for the busiest of minds.

The revolutionary new Welnamis therapy has finally arrived at The Spa Hotel at Ribby Hall Village and is available to book now!

Last week I had the pleasure of learning more about this new treatment and it’s endless benefits, and actually trying it out for myself.

What is Welnamis?

Welnamis is an audio and vibration therapy which combines binaural acoustic waves and dynamic stimulation to assist with stress, anxiety and also provides deep relaxation.

I was fascinated to learn that the vibracoustic technology used in the Welnamis system has been tested and researched by the US army. The treatment was actually designed to aid US military war veterans suffering from PTSD, as well as other stress related issues.

Similar to meditation, the Welnamis experience encourages anti-inflammatory responses, helps reduce stress-related symptoms and regulates sleep patterns. It also supports the immune system function, helping reduce the signs of chronic pain, tension and fatigue.

As someone who has suffered with anxiety and stress in the past, needless to say I was really eager to try the treatment out for myself, and share the experience with you.

4 programs to choose from

As I entered the room, the lights were dimmed and I was talked through the different programs to choose from, of which there are 4, each lasting 22 minutes;

  • Stress relief
  • Mindfulness
  • Powernap
  • Awareness

Each had a long list of  very appealing benefits, but as a busy mum I  decided to choose the ‘Stress Relief’ program.

Having chosen the program I wanted to have, I climbed onto the bed which supported me with it’s heated water cushions and knee & lumbar support. It was very gently vibrating and felt really relaxing to lie on. I was then covered in a towel and given my headphones, ready for the treatment to begin.

I popped my headphones and eye mask  on, and was left alone in the room to begin the treatment. Initially I was very aware of the gentle sounds coming through my headphones. These were very calming nature sounds, and they helped me drift gently into my own world sending me to into what I can only describe as a ‘dream like’ state. I was aware of my surroundings, yet felt hypnotised by the sounds and gentle vibrations of the chair.

“I felt more and more relaxed and slipped deeper into my meditative state.”

As the treatment progressed, I felt more and more relaxed and slipped deeper into my meditative state. Occasionally the sounds would louden and I’d come to a little more, then gently drift back off again.

I’ve always loved the relaxation of a massage or facial, as much for the me time as the actual treatment itself. This felt like 22 minutes of uninterrupted deep relaxation and sound healing for my mind, but also for my body.

After 22 minutes the program gently ended, and I opened my eyes feeling utterly calm and relaxed. I left the spa, and got on with my day feeling energised and rejuvenated.

After reflecting on the treatment and feeling the benefits of it, I’d love to try some of the other programs. I have a creative job and the ‘Awareness’ program focusses on increasing focus and memory recall, something I’m definitely in need of!
