Driving to Ribby Hall Village this morning made me think of everybody heading back to work after the extended Christmas break.  It made me think about how important that early commute is to our well-being and what an impact it has on the rest of our working day.

I live in the picturesque town of Lytham just 10 minutes drive from Ribby Hall Village where I have worked for the past 15 years.  As I drove along Lytham Green the sun was doing its best to climb up from behind the windmill.  It was a stunning sight so I made up my mind to stop along the way to capture some of the beautiful scenery I pass, almost unnoticed, every day.

As I drove towards Wrea Green I came across a tractor which can add a few minutes to my journey, but no matter as I could linger over the views across the frosty fields.  Let’s be honest, we have to take what delights we can in January when we are trying to cut back on spending, drinking and eating but these small pleasures on my way to work are totally free of charge and free of calories!

I parked up at the side of sleepy Wrea Green to snap the view across the green towards The Grapes pub and the village church – even the famous ducks were nowhere to be seen – having a lie in I expect!

As I drove onto Ribby Hall Village I was slightly sad to see Father Christmas being taken down from his sleigh and the ‘snow’ being removed from the roof of his Tree House Grotto but I also reflected on how lucky I am to be able to roll up and park yards from my office.  Returning to work after the Christmas break isn’t so bad after all!  2017 is the year of counting my blessings.
